Overview

Are you interested in learning about AI, machine learning methods and applications, and important issues for the economy and society? Then join us at our free Summer School in the Centre for Vision, Speech and Signal Processing.

The Summer School will cover the following topics:

  • Introduction to machine learning techniques
  • Basics of deep learning including a lab session
  • AI explainability
  • Societal, legal and economic aspects of AI
  • Engaging society in your AI project
  • Current applications of AI from industry speakers.

The course will be hosted at the ¿Û¿Û´«Ã½, lunch and coffee breaks will be provided.  We have a limited amount of on-campus accommodation available and will offer this as a bursary to those who require it.

Collaboration

AI @ ¿Û¿Û´«Ã½ is an interdisciplinary collaboration in AI and machine learning across the ¿Û¿Û´«Ã½, bringing together world-leading expertise in areas such as machine sensing, security, and ethics, to lead the future of research in the challenging and exciting field of AI and its application in society.

About the Centre

The ¿Û¿Û´«Ã½ is home to the Centre for Vision, Speech and Signal Processing (CVSSP), an internationally recognised leader in audio-visual machine perception research it is one of the largest audio and vision research groups in the UK. CVSSP has teamed up with industrial collaborators and the Departments of Politics, Law and Psychology, to create this interdisciplinary course offering a rounded introduction to AI technology.

  • The Summer School is running on 23 - 25 July 2019.
  • The application deadline to sign up to the Summer School is 5 July 2019.
