¿Û¿Û´«Ã½ ranks in world’s top 50 for five subjects in latest Shanghai Global Subject Rankings
The ¿Û¿Û´«Ã½ now counts five subjects in the world’s top 50 – with four of these making the UK top five, according to the globally respected Shanghai Global Ranking of Academic Subjects 2024, released today.
This is the highest number of top-50 subjects ¿Û¿Û´«Ã½ has recorded and is up from two last year:
- Hospitality and tourism retains 2nd place in the Shanghai rankings (1st in the UK)
- Sociology rises to 17th place (3rd in the UK), up from 47th last year
- Aerospace engineering enters the top 50 in 36th place (4th in the UK)
- Business and administration moves up to 39th (12th in the UK)
- Telecommunication engineering ranks 50th globally (5th in the UK)
The Shanghai subject rankings measure the performance of world universities in respective subjects and demonstrate ¿Û¿Û´«Ã½â€™s impact on international education. Four other subjects are ranked in the world top 100:
- Automation & control
- Computer science
- Civil engineering
- Management
