My research project
Nanoplastics in the food chain: from food, to cells, to functionMy research project aims to investigate the impact of nano-plastics (NPs) on animals, particularly the movement of NPs from the environment into animals, and the effects on the nervous system. The project will be carried out using the zebrafish as a model organism. There are three specific aims of the project: (1) to examine the translocation of NPs between food and the whole animal system, (2) to evaluate the effects of NPs on the central nervous system (CNS), and (3) to establish the effects of long-term dietary exposure to NPs on neurotoxicity, behaviour and cognition.
